What is the best way to study Pilates? Pilates is best studied 2-3 times a week. The best way to study pilates is one-to-one with an instructor at least twice a week. The second best way is to have 2 duet classes a week or have 1 one-to-one session and 1 mat class a week. If time and money make it impossible to make 2-3 times a weeks than 1 private session a week is best, or 1 duet class a week or at the very least 1 mat class a week.

I have an injury, can I take a mat class? We recommend that clients who have an injury take a series of one-to-one sessions before taking mat classes. This is to ensure that we can properly and accurately address your individual needs and be sure that you are working properly so that you do not aggravate your injury. Group classes are not the best place to address the complex issues surrounding injuries. Once you have reached a certain level in your pilates it may be possible to join a group class at the discretion of your instructor.
